New Years Eve. Today we did a few home visits for families with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy. We travelled to the country side which was really beautiful. We arrived at a small home in the country side with a small women holding a child. She told her story and Nah translated. She was an extremely poor women whose husband had died of cancer and she was raising a 3 year old child with special needs and a 12 year old daughter who would help her. The family receives a small grant from the government so our organization contributed. While the women told her story, Nah began to cry. This touched my heart because Nah could feel the emotion in her language and her tone whereas the rest of us could not. The second family we visited had a 12 year old boy with cerebral palsy. His grandmother took primary care for him while his parents worked and cared for their other two children. This boy knew nothing. He couldn't understand anything or was aware of his surroundings. He also could not stand. He would have around 10 seizures an hour. This was also a really sad experience and it exposed the never ending love that a family can have for a child.
Later that night, we went to SkyBar 36 for New Years which was a great time!
