Today we got up and had a really good breakfast at the hotel in Hoi An consisting of fruit and eggs. Then, we all walked around Hoi An for a little and returned back to shops to bargain and get what we wanted. When I returned back to my favorite art shop in Hoi An I tried to bargain but the women was not participating so, I left. I went and got a few other things and an hour later I returned because I really wanted the paintings. When I returned, she told me that I gave her good luck and that when I left she sold a lot of paintings. She was really excited about it and let me choose my price for the paintings. This was such a sweet gesture and the first time I experienced the high levels of superstition in Vietnam. When we returned back home we rested and then went to a Vietnamese wedding. This was a really unique experience. I am so happy I got to experience it. It is very different from weddings in the United States. In Vietnam, the weddings last only a few hours. The bride and groom get introduced (no bridesmaids/groomsmen). Then they bring food out family style and in stages. While the people finish up their meal people sing. Anyone who is attending the wedding can volunteer to sing. This was really interesting. The last singer was really good so Nah encouraged us to go up and dance with them. This made everyone laugh and entertained. I will never forget this experience because not many people can say they've been to a Vietnamese wedding.
